For battery and backup power installers
Google Ads for battery and backup power installers.
About 4 in 10 new solar systems now include a battery. We run search ads for homeowners who want backup power, in your account, with every lead sent only to you.
- Retrofit, solar plus storage and backup-only buyers
- Brand keywords only for brands you're certified on
- Campaigns live before the next outage
What changed in 2026
Batteries are where solar is still growing.
~40%
New US residential systems with a battery in 2026, with a record 45% in Q1 (SEIA/Wood Mackenzie).
58%
California solar quotes on EnergySage that include a battery, 1H 2026.
$1,130/kWh
Median battery price on EnergySage, 1H 2026. Up 9% from a year earlier.
- 01
Storage is off the solar deadline.
The 2025 law set a cutoff for new solar projects. The Tax Adviser notes it does not affect energy storage, so battery leases keep their credit longer. The financier claims it, not the homeowner.
- 02
California made batteries the default.
Under NEM 3.0 net billing, power sent back to the grid earns far less. Storing it for the evening is how the math works, so most CA solar sales now include storage.
- 03
Homeowner buyers get no federal credit.
The 25D credit, which covered batteries, ended for systems installed after 2025. Ads sell backup power and a lower bill, not a tax break.
- 04
The data is mixed. We say so.
Install counts show near-record attachment. EnergySage quotes dipped from 39% to 31% in 1H 2026, and Berkeley Lab put 2025 at 37%. We don't promise a boom.
What we run for you
Searches from people who want power when the grid goes down.
Battery buyers are three different people. Each group gets its own ads and its own form question.
Backup power
- home battery backup
- whole home backup power
- battery backup for power outage
Outage-driven buyers. These spike after storms, so the campaign is already running when they search.
Add to existing solar
- add battery to existing solar
- solar battery retrofit
- battery for my solar panels
Owners with panels already, including ones whose installer went bankrupt.
Brand installers
- powerwall installer near me
- enphase battery installer
- franklinwh installer
High intent. Only for brands you're certified to install.
Generator shoppers
- battery vs generator
- quiet generator alternative
- generator alternative for home
Comparison shoppers who haven't picked yet. Lower volume, worth a small budget.
Searches we block
- car battery
- ups battery
- portable power station
- generator repair
- free battery program
- battery jobs
Added as negative keywords before launch, then checked against real search terms after launch.
Three battery buyers
Different buyer, different page.
Each lead text says which of the three it is, so your rep opens with the right question.

Sandra L. · Sacramento, CA
- Owns the home
- Has a 6 kW system from 2019, installer out of business
- Wants a battery added for whole home backup
- Lost power 3 times last year
Searched: “add battery to existing solar”
Illustrative example. Not a real person or a real result.
Retrofit leads tell you the system size and who installed it, so you know if it's a job you take before you call.
- 1The homeowner fills out the form on your landing page.
- 2The lead hits your phone and inbox. Nobody else gets it.
- 3You call while they still have the page open.
- 4You mark sat and signed. We send that back to Google so it finds more like them.

FAQ
Questions
Can you use brand names like Powerwall in the ads?+
As keywords, yes, if you're a certified installer for that brand. In ad text we follow the brand's own rules and your certification.
Do you push ads harder during outages?+
Campaigns run all year. When a big outage hits your area, we can raise the budget fast. You approve the change first.
Can homeowners get a tax credit on a battery?+
Not a homeowner federal credit if they buy it. The 25D credit ended for systems installed after 2025. Battery leases may still carry a credit through the financier. Our ads don't promise either.
Will you run ads for systems from bankrupt installers?+
Yes, if you service them. Searches from owners of SunPower, Sunnova or similar systems can go into the retrofit campaign as keywords.
What does it cost?+
Setup is $500. Ad spend is at least $100/day (about $3,000 a month), paid to Google on your card. Our $1,500/mo fee starts the month after your first signed contract from the ads.
